Here’s what’s going on this week at the Delaware Swim Team…

-         PRACTICE CHANGES:

o       Today 12/22 and tomorrow, Wednesday 12/23

§         NO PRACTICE:  PS DuPont or Concord High School

·        Both facilities are closed to weather related district closures.

·        Please refer to the team practice schedule for available practices at other locations.

§         Practice Time Change: University of Delaware CIP

·        All practices will begin at 3:30 and end at 4:45.

·        Please refer to the DST Winter Break Schedule for specific group times

·        The building is closing promptly at 5:00.

·        The university has asked that our practice end at 4:45 to ensure that all swimmers have cleared the building by closing.

·        Please make arrangements for your children to be picked up no later than 5:00pm.

o       Senior Group Morning Practice: Tomorrow 5:30am-7:00am

§         REMINDER: As stated on the Winter Break Schedule; Senior Program morning practice will be held at DSFC New Castle- NOT PIKE CREEK.

§         The staff felt that extra space may be needed considering that many of our swimmers have off school, and our college swimmers are home to visit.

o       Winter Break Schedule:

§         Please be sure to check the website, www.delawareswimteam.com, for our revised schedule during the Winter Break.  Please note:

·        The Brandywine School District will be implementing its blackout program during this time, resulting in both Concord and PS DuPont being closed.

·        There are numerous time changes and practice additions to both the Senior and Age Group programs.

-         UPCOMING MEETS:

o       The following meets are in need of your attention:

§         January 16 & 17^th: DST will be holding an A/BB/C and Mini Meet at the University of Delaware. All DST swimmers are expected to attend. Please speak to your primary coach with all entry questions.

·         Team meet information has been posted on the web and distributed to the sites. Our online entry system is now active for this meet.

·        Who: All DST swimmers

·        What: DST’s Pirate Plunge A/BB/C & Mini:

·        When: January 16^th and 17^th 2010

·        Where: University of Delaware

·        ENTRIES DUE NO LATER THAN MONDAY 12/28

§         January 22^nd- 24^th: The Mid Atlantic Elite Meet will be held at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology. All qualified DST swimmers are expected to attend. Please speak to your primary coach with all entry questions.

·        Team Meet information will be posted on the web and distributed to the sites next week. The online entry system will be active soon.

·        Who: All qualified DST swimmers

·        What: Middle Atlantic Elite Meet

·        When: January 22^nd -24^th 2010

·        Where: Gloucester County Institute of Technology

-         ADOPT-A- FAMILY:

o       Thanks to all our families who participated in this seasons Adopt a Family program, your kind donations are greatly appreciated. Another thanks to Coach Jocelyn and her swimmer and parent volunteers for all their hard work in organizing this great cause.

-         SPORTSWEAR ORDERS:

o       The DST Sportswear Order has been delivered to our office and is the process of being sorted.  Once sorted, each families order will be delivered to their home site.

o       Swimmers which practice at PS dupont or Concord should contact Clark, clarkb@freestlyes.org, to make arrangements to pick up any orders that need to be picked up before the holiday.

-         RESOLUTION CLASSIC:

o       New Years Day, DST and DEA will be sponsoring the 1^st Annual Resolution Classic -5k /1 mile fun Run.

§         What: A 5k or 1 mile run with the proceeds benefitting the American Lung Association.

§         When: 12:00 Noon, New Years Day

·        (Registration begins at 10:30 AM)

§         Where: Delaware Swim & Fitness Center Pike Creek

·        4905 Mermaid Blvd, Wilmington, DE 19808

§         Entry Fees:

·        Pre-race $17.00 (Deadline Dec 21st)

·        Race day $20.00

·        Checks payable to “Delaware Swim & Fitness Center”

§         All entrants receive a race t-shirt

§         Prizes to be awarded

§         We need your support by either running in the race or helping as a volunteer.
