-         HOLIDAY MEETS:

o       Congratulations to all our swimmers who competed at various meets over the last week. Here are some highlights from those competitions:

§         Team Accomplishments:

·        DST finished 17th overall at USA SC Junior Nationals.

·        DST won the Women, Men, and Team Championships at the TYR Cup Holiday Classic.

§         Individual Accomplishments:

·        Nicole Vernon finished 1st and Kaitlyn Jones 2nd in the  Women’s 400yard IM at Junior Nationals

·        Cierra Runge won the High Point Award for the Women’s Senior Division at the TYR Cup.

·        DST Swimmers achieved over 60 best times at the JW IMX Challenge.

-         PRACTICE CHANGES:

o       Friday 12/18:

§         The University of Delaware’s Carpenter building is closing at 5:00pm. As a result the following changes will be implemented.

·        Supers: 3:30-4:45pm @ CIP

·        Mightys: 3:30-4:45 @ CIP

o       The building is closing promptly at 5:00. The university has asked that our practice end at 4:45 to ensure that all swimmers have cleared the building by closing.

o       Please make arrangement for your children to be picked up no later than 5:00pm

o       Saturday 12/19 & 12/20:

§         The University of Delaware’s Carpenter building will be CLOSED. As result no practices will be held. Please check the website, www.delawareswimteam.com , for other practice opportunities to be announced.

 

o       Monday 12/21 though Monday 1/4/10:

§         Please check the website Thursday for our revised Holiday Schedule:

 

-         YOGA CLASS:

o       Coach Jocelyn has arranged for a yoga class to be offered to our swimmers, all are welcome.

§         Date: This Friday 12/18

§         Time: 8:00-8:45 pm

§         Place: DSFC Pike Creek

§         Cost: $ 3.00 per person

 

-         BOOSTERS MEETING:

o       Tomorrow Night, Wednesday 12/16, DST will be holding a Booster meeting, all are invited. Please contact Kathy Drysdale or Sean Dougherty with any questions about the role, open positions, or responsibilities of the DST Boosters Group.,

§         Who: Anyone who wants to help the development of our team

§         Date: Wednesday December 16th

§         Time: 6:00pm

§         Place: DSFC Pike Creek

 

-         ADOPT-A-FAMILY:

o       This year DST is adopting two local families in need.

§         The first family is a recently divorced mother with 3 daughters. Due to the economy, she has been out of work and recently had to apply for public assistance. They have little heating, little food, and little income.

·        Byranna - daughter (17)  13 pant (juniors) /XL shirt

o       Bryanna is a windmill pitcher for her high school softball team. Her Christmas request is for make-up, clothes (including socks) and a gas card.

·        Ellie - daughter (12)  9 pant (juniors) / L shirt

o       Ellie is a cheerleader and softball player. Her request is for make-up and clothes also. She needs socks, headbands, hair bands, and pajamas (junior-large).

·        Lexie - daughter (7)  10 pant / 10-12 shirt (girls Medium)

o       Lexie likes to draw and write stories. Her request is Bratz dolls, and board games. She also needs a winter coat (size 12).

·        Jessica - mom size 9 shoes

o       Jessica would like a pair of dress boots if possible or shoes and a gift card to Wal-Mart for food.

§         The second family is a mother and father with two children.

·        Ronnisha - daughter (15) 0-2 junior pant and XS-SM shirt

o       Ronnisha loves sports. She plays basketball and would love her own basketball. She also hopes to get a phone for her bedroom. She needs clothes and a long winter coat. 

·        Kenisha - -daughter (8) girls 12 pant and 14-16 shirt

o       Kenisha likes anything pertaining to I-Carly, Hanna Montana or Moxie Girl. She hopes to get Baby Alive Doll. She needs clothes and a winter coat.

·        Talisha - mom 9.5  shoe size, 16 pant and L shirt

o       If possible mom would like a long winter coat and boots and a gift card to Wal-Mart for food.

·        Kenneth- dad 36/32 pant and XL shirt

o       Dad needs white t-shirts

§         These two families really need help.

·        Please email Coach with any items that you can contribute, so that we can keep track of which items the families still need.

·        Gifts may be dropped off at Pike Creek, New Castle or at the pool at University of Delaware.

·        The gifts will be delivered Saturday, December 19th. We will provide updates on the items still needed or you can contact Jocelyn.

 

-         RESOLUTION CLASSIC:

o       New Years Day, DST and DEA will be sponsoring the 1st Annual Resolution Classic -5k /1 mile fun Run.

§         What: A 5k or 1 mile run with the proceeds benefitting the American Lung Association.

§         When: 12:00 Noon, New Years Day

·        (Registration begins at 10:30 AM)

§         Where: Delaware Swim & Fitness Center Pike Creek

·        4905 Mermaid Blvd, Wilmington, DE 19808

§         Entry Fees:

·        Pre-race $17.00 (Deadline Dec 21st)

·        Race day $20.00

·        Checks payable to “Delaware Swim & Fitness Center”

§         All entrants receive a race t-shirt

§         Prizes to be awarded

-         USA SWIMMING VIRTUAL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP:

o       Take a look at the current rankings for USA Swimming’s Virtual Club Championship Program. After our Holiday Meets, DST is now ranked in the Top 20 programs in the country. Congratulations to every member of the team, this is something to be very proud of. Keep up the good work….Next Stop…. the Top 10.
