PART I
Good morning everyone,
Here’s what’s going on this week at the Delaware Swim Team….
- SPORTSWEAR ORDERS:
o DST Sportswear order forms are PAST DUE. Please contact the office today if you have a change, addition, or would like to place a new order.
- 2009 STATE MEET PEP RALLY:
o This Sunday November 22nd DST will be holding our annual Pre-State Meet Clinic and Pep Rally. We will be taking our team picture at this event, so please mark your calendar, we are hoping for a great turnout. The Staff will be running a starts, turns, and relay clinic after the picture. Fun and games to follow the clinic. Parents are welcome to sit in the bleachers and watch.
§ Who: All DST swimmers and families
§ Where: University of Delaware CIP
§ When: This Sunday, 11/22 from 12:00-2:00pm.
- TEAM PICTURE:
o This Sunday November 22nd DST will be taking its 2009 Team Picture. We strongly encourage all swimmers from Pups to Nationals, to be attendance. Here are details that are important about the team picture:
§ The Picture will be taken by our own Dick Dubroff of Final Focus Photography.
§ The picture will begin promptly at 12:00pm, in the Gym. Families are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure we start on time.
§ All female swimmers are asked to wear their team suit. If a swimmer does not have a team suit, we ask you to wear a navy blue or black suit in its place. Please refrain from wearing a brightly colored suit.
§ All male swimmers are asked to wear dark colored shorts. Navy or Black shorts are preferred, please refrain from wearing bright colors.
§ Swimmers will not have shoes on for this picture. We will designate an area for shoes to be placed. Parents we will need your help here.
§ Not hats in the picture. Except for Coach Sean.
§ Families will have the opportunity to purchase the team picture from Final Focus:
· Size: 8x10
· Cost: $15.00
· Payment: Cash or Check payable to Dick Dubroff
· Contact Info: Envelopes for payment and family contact information will be available at the site on Saturday.
- REVISED SCHEDULE:
o Please keep in mind the team is now following the revised schedule (11/16.). Please check the web, www.delawareswimteam.com, for the up to date schedule for your site.
- PRACTICE CHANGES:
o Saturday 11/21 through Wednesday 11/25:
§ NO PRACTICE @ PS DuPont or Concord High School
· The Brandywine School District’s blackout program will be in affect during this period. We do not have access to any district facilities during this time.
o Please refer to the team practice schedule for available practices at other locations.
o Thursday 11/26
§ NO PRACTICE - All locations
· Thanksgiving Holiday
o Friday 11/27 through Sunday 11/28
§ NO PRACTICE – All locations
· Delaware State Meet - all swimmers expected to attend.
- SENIOR BLUE:
o Due to the Brandywine School Districts blackout period, changes to the Senior Blue practice schedule will be implemented. Coach Dan will contact the group with these changes. See Dan if you have any questions about upcoming changes.
- DELAWARE STATE MEET:
o Team entries for the Delaware State Meet have been posted on the web. Please take some time to look over your entries, and let the office know of any problems you may find.
§ If a swimmer is planning to not attend a session or leave early from a session of the State Meet please email seand@freestyles.org. It is important that the staff have a good idea of what swimmers will be available for relays.
- STATE MEET VOLUNTEERS:
o DST needs your help! In order for the Delaware State Meet to run smoothly and successfully a strong contingent of volunteers is a must. Please contact Kathy Minka, kathym@freestyles.org, for you preferred worker assignment.
- TYR CUP HOTEL
o The Marriott of Lancaster – Penn Square still has rooms available. At this time DST has less than 50% of it team block booked. If you plan to stay in the team hotel during the TYR Cup please make your reservation as soon as possible.

- VOTE FOR ANDREW:
o Congratulations to DST alum Andrew Gemmell for his 2009 USA Swimming Golden Goggle Award nomination! Andrew is a nominee for USA Breakout Performer of the year. Please follow the link below to vote for Andrew!
§ Fans can vote for the winners online at www.GoldenGoggles.com. Online voting began October 16, and will continue through November 18.

- THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE:
o DST is collecting food for the food bank until Sunday, November 22nd.
§ Each site will participate and try to collect as much as they can.
§ All swimmers and coaches are encouraged to contribute something, either a can, a box, or $5.00.
§ Families are encouraged to bring a donation to Sunday’s Pep Rally.

- FAMILY INFORMATION FOLDERS:
o Please be sure to regularly check you family folder for important order forms, announcements, calendars, or meet information. Please ask a coach at your site if you are unsure where the folders are located.
- - RESOLUTION CLASSIC:
o New Years Day, DST and DEA will be sponsoring the 1st Annual Resolution Classic -5k /1 mile fun Run.
§ What: A 5k or 1 mile run with the proceeds benefitting the American Lung Association.
§ When: 12:00 Noon, New Years Day
· (Registration begins at 10:30 AM)
§ Where: Delaware Swim & Fitness Center Pike Creek

§ Entry Fees:
· Pre-race $17.00 (Deadline Dec 21st)

Good afternoon,
Here is some information that was not available for yesterday’s team email…
- TEAM FUNDRAISER:
o Delaware Swim Team has decided to organize a cheesecake sale as a fundraiser to help defray the costs associated with meet entries. Here are the details:
§ J.P. DiNorscia of Achieve Solutions will be our representative for this fundraiser.
§ Mr. DiNorscia has written a letter and assembled a packet explaining the specifics of this program. Over the next 2 days he will be visiting our practice facilities to distribute these order packets to swimmers. He will meet briefly with swimmers and coaches (10 minutes) to discuss the fundraiser.
· Pike Creek: tonight 5:00pm; beginning of practice
· University of Delaware: tonight 7:00pm; end of practice.
· New Castle: tomorrow night ( 11/19 ) 6:00pm
· Concord: tomorrow night ( 11/19 ) 7:30pm
- A NEW DECEMBER MEET:
o Delaware Swim Team has been invited to attend a closed invitational hosted by the Jersey Wahoos. The Wahoos have created this meet to provide swimmers who have yet to achieve TYR CUP qualification standards an opportunity to compete in a Holiday meet.
§ Who: All 9 & over swimmer who have not qualified for TYR Cup.
§ What: Wahoo Invitational IMX BB/C Meet
§ Where: Jersey Wahoos Swim Club, Mount Laurel NJ
§ When: Saturday December 12th and Sunday December 13th
§ Team Meet information will be distributed to the sites tomorrow.
§ Full Meet information will be posted on the web tomorrow.
