Good afternoon everyone….
Sorry for the delay in this email, I have been out of the office for a bit. Here’s what’s going on at the Delaware Swim Team this week…
- WELCOME BACK:
o Delaware Swim Team is excited to welcome back Coach Jay Lynch to our staff. Coach Jay is returning to the team after spending some time away from the sport pursuing another career endeavor. Jay is an incredible addition to an already strong coaching staff, and we are look forward to having him back on the deck. Below are a few things about Coach Jay:
§ Swam for the University of Delaware from 1994-1999.
§ Coached with DST from 1999-2007
§ Served as the Head Coach of DST from 2003-2007.
§ His coaching helped produce many zone, top 16, Sectional, Junior National, National, and Olympic Trial qualifiers.
§ Jay has had incredible success working with all levels of development within this sport.
§ Jay helped develop DST’s “Lead Program” for the Wonders, Mighty and Super groups; a program which saw an enormous success at the Age Group Level.
§ Jay is excited to take over as primary coach of the Wonder Group at our University of Delaware site.
§ Look for Coach Jay on deck next week!
- SCHEDULE CHANGES:
o Over the last three weeks, many families have voiced concerns regarding staffing and over crowding issues on weekdays at the University of Delaware and weekends at Pike Creek. Our staff appreciates your patience as we processed these concerns and created a plan to address them. Please read below as we are confident we have addressed many concerns and look forward to the smooth transition and successful rest of the season.
§ As mentioned above, DST is excited about the addition of Coach Jay Lynch. Jay will take over as primary coach for the Wonders at CIP, and we believe the families of this group will be more than pleased with this addition.
§ Through multiple staff proposals, we have decided to make some practice changes at CIP. Some these changes will be felt at our Pike Creek facility as well.
· DST is sensitive to the busy schedule of each individual family, and understands schedule changes are not always easily digested.
· Through meeting with parents and coaches, the overall consensus appeared to be that solidifying coaching and lane space on a nightly basis needed to be our number one priority. Taking that into account we felt that some schedule changes were necessary to address these issues.
· Thank you to the parents and staff who have been proactive, as well as very willing to compromise, in their efforts to create the best environment at CIP on a nightly basis.
· The new schedule will be in affect Monday November 16th, and will be sent out in a separate email to follow this one, as well as posted on the web soon.
