Here’s what’s going on at the Delaware Swim Team this week…

 

-         BANANA BOAT & PUMPKIN PATCH MEETS:

o       This weekend DST will host and compete in its first meets of the new season! Here are some things you need to know:

§         Please be sure to check the website, www.delawareswimteam.com, for the up to date warm-up and start times for each session this weekend.

·        DST swimmers are expected to arrive at the meet 10-15 minutes prior to warm-up.

§         DST is responsible for providing the hospitality area for coaches, officials, and meet volunteers; please see below for a the list of preferred donations:

·        Banana Boat

o       Girls are asked to bring water or soda

o       13&over boys are asked to bring bagels or donuts

o       9-12 year old boys are asked to bring finger foods or desserts.

·         Pumpkin Patch

o       Girls are asked to bring water or soda

o       Boys are asked to bring bagels, donuts, finger foods or desserts.

§         Caps will be available at the meet. Each will swimmer will receive one latex cap at no cost. We are still waiting for our shipment of silicon caps.

§         Swimmers should come prepared. Here is a list of things to pack:

·        More than one towel

·        Competition suit, goggles, and cap

·        Drinks ( water, Gatorade, PowerAde, etc….not soda )

·        Healthy snacks ( bagel, pretzels, cold pasta, etc…not junk )

·        Warm Clothes ( sweatpants, sweatshirt, socks, shoes, etc )

·        A list and knowledge of the events they are swimming that day; writing it on their hand is always a good idea.

 

-         MEET WORKERS:

o       DST will be in need of many volunteers to help setup, run, and breakdown the meet this weekend. Please check the web, and sign up for whatever job you can help with.

 

-         OFFICIALS CLINICS:

o       Thanks to those of you who attended the MA Officials Clinic this past weekend! DST thanks you for taking time out your weekend to get involved and help the team.

§         Those of you still interested in becoming an official can find the dates of the remaining clinics on our website, or Middle Atlantic: www.maswim.org.

 

-         PICNIC PICTURES:

o       We’re still looking for pictures from the annual picnic. If you have any you would like to share, please email them to kathyd@ freestyles.org.

 

-         PRACTICE CHANGES:

o       Here are the practice changes for this week:

§         Senior Blue

·        Coach Dan is having a morning practice, tomorrow, Wednesday Oct 14 for his Senior Blue Group

o       Time: 5:30am- 7:00am

o       Place: DSFC Pike Creek

§         Banana Boat and Pumpkin Patch

·        Saturday October 17 – NO Practices at any location

·        Sunday October 18- NO Practices at any location

 

-         PIKE CREEK FACILTIY:

o       DST asks that the families practicing at our Pike Creek facility keep in mind that there are members who share the bathroom with our team, and a general respect for these members and facility overall is very important. Please monitor your swimmers in the bathrooms, and be sure to pick up after yourselves.

 

-         CONGRATULATIONS:

§         Congrats to Coach Jocelyn, who has returned from competing in Iron Man World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. DST is very proud of you!

-         YOGA CLASS:

o       Coach Jocelyn has arranged for a yoga class to be offered to our swimmers, all are welcome.

§         Date: This Friday 10/16

§         Time: 8:00-9:30 pm

§         Place: DSFC Pike Creek

§         Cost: $ 3.00 per person

 

-         - RMSC AGE GROUP CHALLENGE:

o       AG Challenge applications are now available on our website;

§         In order to be considered in the team selection process swimmers must be between the ages of 9 to 14, and submit an application.

§         The deadline for applications is Friday October 16th.

§         Banana Boat Meet results WILL be used in our selection process

§         DST will announce the swimmers selected to represent the club by Wednesday October 21st.

o       Be sure to take a look at this month’s edition of Splash Magazine. DST alumnus, Andrew Gemmell, is featured in the FINA World Championships Article, a Confidence Building article, AND the Word Search!
