Kurz Adds to NAG Record Haul -- April 2, 2006

EAST MEADOW, New York, April 2. COMPETING at the Eastern Zone All-Star Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center, Tanner Kurz (Delaware Swim Team) established a pair of 11-12 NAG records. Kurz took down standards in the 100 individual medley and 200 breaststroke with respective times of 55.56 and 2:13.52. His swim in the 100 I.M. broke his own record from early March.

A few weeks removed from setting a NAG mark in the 400 I.M., Kurz also set a quartet of Eastern Zone records. The 12-year-old clocked 2:00.19 in the 200 I.M., 1:00.94 in the 100 breaststroke, 49.98 in the 100 freestyle and 54.95 in the 100 butterfly.

Tanner set new meet records in 50 free, 100 free, 50 fly, 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 IM, 400 IM and 100 back (every event he swam), 

and won the 11-12 Boys Individual High Point.

P.J. Koppel broke the Middle Atlantic all-time record for 13-14 boys 200 breaststroke by swimming this event in 2.06.22  at the 2004 Middle Atlantic Junior Olympics!! The previous Middle Atlantic record for this event at a MA hosted meet was held by Seth Van Neerden (WAC), who swam 2.07.19 in 1983.  The previous record for a Middle Atlantic swimmer at a non-MA meet was 2.06.60 swam by Kyle Salyards(LAC) in 1995.
